Islamic Hypocrites

Post by Gustavus_Adolfus on Sun Jun 29, 2008 8:57 pm

Hey guys, this is gonna be my 1st post ever...so hope you enjoy it.

As a quick disclaimer, I do not hate people of different religions/race/culture/everything, I shouldn't have to put that up...but just in case someone thinks that I am....whelp I'm not.

In this post i care to mention something I read in time magazine the other day. In Afghanistan an American soldier shot the Qur'an up in a target range...

Immediately after he was shipped back to the states and the American government began apologizing to the entire Islamic community as a whole.

Now this is where the hypocrisy comes into play, I do understand how many Muslims find offense to it. However, one thing that bugs me is that the shooting of a book can upset so many people, but at the same time many radicals rejoice in the killings and suicide bombings of hundreds of people.

In many Middle Eastern countries they torch American flags, openly HATE Americans and Jews, and state that their purpose is to kill "infidels" which is a ridiculously broad range that defines any western person (let it be known I am only talking about radicals...such as the Taliban). Yet, when it comes to diplomacy with these nations and peoples...it is like walking on eggshells. They are so easily upset by the most ridiculous things that it is nigh impossible to deal with them in a proper manner.

Now here is what I don't understand, how can these countries be so easily offended...but openly hate the people who offend them, honestly how about they just shoot a Bible rather than go into a very dense marketplace and kill "Infidels" and Muslims alike.

The only reason I can put together that American still even deals with these countries is oil...because if the Middle East did not have oil to offer America would not even bother dealing with these countries that act like 6 year olds having a temper tantrum.

I am open to all sides on this topic and look forward to hearing any replies.

Thanks for reading

I completely agree with Gustavus on this one.

Let me add this to what he said:

I've never quite understood exactly why America essentially gives in to the requests of nations that seem offended by actions done by people literally on the other side of the planet. Does anyone remember hearing the Republicans bashing Obama because he would try reasoning with nations rather than threatening them with pointless violence, claiming that he is "negotiating with terrorists" or something like that? Well, isn't that essentially the same thing as what we are doing now? Negotiating with terrorists? Think about this for a second: any time something that may come across as offensive to Muslims, it is immediately censored. Any time someone does something that goes against Islam, America apologizes like someone begging for his/her life. In case anyone hasn't noticed, that is far worse than negotiating with terrorists. That is giving in to terrorism.

Now for another claim.

Terrorism is defined as the following (from dictionary.com. Yes, this will go somewhere.):
–noun
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.
4. the unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or
property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or
political reasons.

As you can see, three of the four mention intimidation, which in turn leads to submission. Not once does it mention anything about Islam having to be a part of terrorism. Which essentially means that, to innocents in the Middle East caught in the middle of this pointless violence, Americans are terrorists. To them, America is full of Catholics/Christians. I don't quite know that as fact, and I don't intend to put it out there as fact as it is just my own personal guess. But to me, this war is not only about oil and giving in to the demands of terrorist so that America doesn't have another 9/11 (which with our current dedication to checking grandma's shoes at the airport, we won't. More on that in a different forum topic when I get around to it), but it is also a religious war, or as Muslims would put it, "jihad."

Thanks. Feel free to reply, disagree, etc etc.

I think that many of the religious folk in the middle east are batshit fucking insane. The last thing we want is to give them an excuse to kill tourists or bomb an embassy. There wouldn't have been any problem if the story never got out. The soldier was just being an inappropriate dumbass. He should've been banged on the snout and let that be the end of it. Honestly the extremists or freedom fighters or jihadists, whatever you want to call them, have a laundry list of far better reasons to attack the west than the antics of Private Dumbass.

One thing that is worthy of note is the very base of the Muslim religion.
Jihad existed at the very foundation, with their prophet Muhammad. In order to spread the word, he and his army of followers from Medina launched an offensive to retake Mecca, the city he got kicked out of. There was lots of blood and whatnot, people died. He won. So he basically lead by example. Therefore it's well within the rules of their religion to kill in the name of Allah. It's not a peaceful religion. Muhammad was no Jesus. He had a ton of wives ("celibacy? wtf is that?"). His followers functioned also as thugs to maintain control.

With that in mind, we can't say that the extremists are bad Muslims.
We can only say that religion in general is stupid. We live in well-informed logical times.
It's time for them to evolve and move past their archaic superstitious roots.

On a lighter note, how about that Barack Obama character? It feels like the nightmare's almost over right? He's like the Great Black Hope.
I want to sit down with the guy, get a big pitcher of beer, and talk about crazy shit. He's so non-stuffy non-Washington, it would kick ass.
Hey we should play a drinking game. We'll watch one of his speeches. Every time he uses the word "change" take a shot.

I am glad to see this topic got some feedback.

I completely agree with Churchill and Stien on the fact that these terrorists are "batshit fucking insane".

However i disagree with both of you guys saying they hate America due to the fact that Christians/Jews live there.

As Stien said the Muslim religion had a very violent beginning with Muhammad attacking Mecca, but looking after that Muslims have been a very tolerant religion.

During the following years and even up to and past the Crusades, Muslims allowed Christians, Jews, and other religions to live in Northern Africa (After the Roman Empire fell there were thousands of both religions living in Egypt). The only restrictions the Muslims placed on the other religions was a higher tax rate. And if the terrorists were being good Muslims, does that mean the tolerant Muslims that live in America and other nations are bad Muslims?

It was not until the Western Nations began expanding their influence into Africa and the Middles East that Muslims began to despise the Western nations....

If you look at all the different countries that were established AFTER WWII, they all have a distaste for their previous occupiers and nations similar (ie. ALL OF AFRICA and the middle east). This is because these nations were occupied for one sole purpose, to be exploited.

Now, as Stien said, they have a list of things better to hate us for, well being exploited and hating the entire concept of a capitalistic and materialistic society is understandable. Therefore, something as simple as shooting a book is used as an excuse by them to have a hissy fit.
